DISCOVER THE RESEARCH
In a context of increasing prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the heterogeneity of children’s profiles and abilities, early diagnosis is crucial in order to implement intensive, individualized, multidimensional therapeutic care and therefore more efficient.
The MICHELANGELO consortium team associated the universities of Pisa, Southampton, Paris 6 and the team of Professor Cohen, specialized in the management of complex disorders of development in children (CHU Pitié-Salpêtrière-AP-HP). This consortium developed evaluation and monitoring tools for autism that led to the development of a functional prototype (serious game GOLIAH). This demonstrator has shown that it can be used at home with the help of parents in addition to usual care, during a clinical study in 2014 conducted by AP-HP and the University of Pisa [1,2] and that, after training, children's improvement in joint attention tasks was correlated with changes in brain activity and connectivity.
The goal of the e-GOLIAH project is to make the necessary improvements to the initial prototype to increase its acceptability and feasibility, in an approach involving all stakeholders. The launch of this solution will increase the therapeutic effectiveness of these games dedicated to the measurement and training of behavioral and cognitive skills by facilitating an intensive and personalized care closer to the individual characteristics of the child. The professional, via the platform Curapy.com, identifies the child's difficulties and follows their evolution, adapts the game levels according to his progress and follows the observance of the sessions. Motivated by games and the ability to play with their parents by interacting face-to-face, the child will acquire new social skills faster and easier, enabling a better quality of life.
IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT TOOLS
This tools are created as part of the research. They are linked to the research results and contribute to make them more accessible to the stakeholders in the field.
A digital game - e-GOLIAH
e-GOLIAH consists of 10 mini-games to share, available for free on the stores (iOS and Android). To play, download the game via 2 different mediums (for example one on a mobile and one on a digital tablet).
